Twelve college-bound military dependants and spouses are now thousands of dollars closer to meeting their tuition requirements, thanks to the Hanscom Spouses Club.

The HSC presented more than $36,000 in scholarships during its Scholarship Awards Ceremony, held at the Minuteman Club May 13. The ceremony was the culmination of the HSC's year-long fundraising efforts, which included club auctions, Minuteman Thrift Shop sales and coordinating both private and corporate donations, said Judi Parker, HSC president.

The club members' hard work nets satisfying results.

"Each year, we have the pleasure of awarding scholarships to some very remarkable individuals, to help them pursue their educational goals," Mrs. Parker said.

In addition to previously established awards, the HSC's Scholarship Committee debuted the Jeanne M. Richter Award at the recent ceremony. In addition to working at Hanscom's Education and Training Center and teaching English as a Second Language here, Mrs. Richter has also served as HSC scholarship chairperson numerous times, said Glynis Olson, the current HSC scholarship chairperson.

"It is our great pleasure to honor this special lady, whose life has been dedicated to education," Mrs. Olson said.

Scholarship recipients include:

Michael Digman
William Flanagan
