The Electronic Systems Center's annual award nominees spent the week leading up to the awards banquet on March 20, celebrating in style. ESC leadership treated the group to a week of off-base excursions and camaraderie to express their appreciation for each nominee's hard work and excellence in 2007.

"These nominees really represent the depth and breadth of talent and commitment we have across ESC. We appreciate their hard work and devotion to excellence in support of both the mission and their fellow Airmen, and are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize them," said Lt. Gen. Ted Bowlds, ESC commander.

Some highlights of the week's activities included touring Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution in Boston, as well as the Lexington and Concord museums; taking in a play at Boston University and bowling with leadership at Hanscom Lanes.

Nominees expressed gratitude for the week-long festivities and for the recognition they received.

The ESC Awards Week activities were truly pleasurable experiences. Each member of the committee that put the festivities together was extremely helpful and genuinely friendly," said Roxanne Gafford, Cryptologic Systems Group Electronics engineer and Civilian of the Year, Category II award recipient.

"Each activity was very well coordinated and the entire week of activities was carefully and thoughtfully planned. I had an absolutely wonderful time and I wholeheartedly thank everyone for their tremendous effort. They said that their goal was to make us feel appreciated for all that we do and they succeeded," she said.

Senior Airman Lateeah Morrell, 66th Comptroller Squadron and Airman of the Year recipient, also expressed gratitude to leadership for their support. "I want to thank the leadership and all of the people on the committee for putting everything together for this week and for their hard work in showing their appreciation for us. We all really enjoyed it and appreciate everything."

The festivities culminated with the banquet, featuring guest speaker retired Chief Master Sgt. Eric W. Benken, who served as the 12th chief master sergeant of the Air Force. For a complete list of ESC Annual Award winners see related article at
