With February school vacation just around the corner, Hanscom's Outdoor Recreation and the Information Tickets and Travel Office are standing ready to assist families with all sorts of options to make the most of this vacation period.

For those who will be hitting the ski slopes, Outdoor Recreation invites customers to stop by and save on the purchase of ski lift tickets. "We offer discounted tickets to various premier ski resorts throughout New England," said Nicole Craver, Outdoor Recreation director.

"We also offer ski and snowboard tuning services that include edge sharpening and hot waxing. We also offer equipment rental for those who don't yet own their own or are just trying out this sport for the first time," she said.

For the February vacationer, equipment can be reserved up to one week in advance by pre-paying for the time needed. If circumstances require a change in plans, customers only need to provide a 48-hour notice of cancellation of reserved equipment to obtain a full refund.

Many base organizations also plan group trips at this time of year and making early reservations can ensure your group is fully equipped to hit the slopes. Groups can save 10 percent off their rental cost, with groups of 10 or more, and can reserve their equipment up to one week in advance from the date of pick up. Payment is required in full for all reservations.

Whether you're a single skier, going on a family outing or with a group of friends, if you plan on renting equipment from Outdoor Recreation, you must stop by ODR prior to the date of the trip to get fitted for the right equipment. Reservations will only be made for patrons who have been fitted at ODR. An appointment is not required for fittings.

The annual Outdoor Recreation Valentine's Day sale on winter wear will take place Feb. 11 to 16. Customers can save up to 25 percent on gloves, goggles, scarves, neck warmers, socks and more, excluding equipment, before you hit the slopes.

For the hunting or fishing enthusiast, Outdoor Recreation has Massachusetts Hunting and Fishing licenses available for purchase. Price for the 2008 license, either fishing or hunting is $29 or customers can purchase a combination license for $46.50.
