Col. Terrence A. "Terry" Feehan, commander of the Nuclear Weapons Center at Kirtland AFB, N.M., has been reassigned to the position of Electronic Systems Center vice commander, the Air Force announced last week.

The colonel will assume his new position at ESC by the end of April. The ESC vice commander position was most recently filled by Maj. Gen. Art Rooney, who retired with 33 years of service in late October 2007.

In his current position, the colonel is in charge of two wings: the 498th Armament Systems Wing and the 377th Air Base Wing. The 498th ARSW is responsible for the entire scope of the nuclear weapons support functions and is comprised of units at Kirtland AFB, Nellis AFB, Nev. and Tinker AFB, Okla. The 377th ABW provides base operating support for Kirtland AFB and hosts over 100 associate units.

Colonel Feehan has previously commanded at the squadron and group levels and most recently as the 377th ABW Commander. Colonel Feehan has also served as an engineer, acquisition program director, inspector general, and at the major command and headquarters Air Force levels.

A number of the positions in which the colonel has served were within Air Force Materiel Command, including as lead structures engineer for the Tri-Service Standoff Attack Missile System Program Office at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, commander's action officer at Headquarters AFMC, commander of the 88th Mission Support Group and later the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson, and as director of the F-15 System Program Office.

Colonel Feehan received his commission as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1984, and earned a Master of Science degree in engineering management from West Coast University in California.

Colonel Feehan was one of only seven officers from across the Department of Defense to attend Senior Service School as a Secretary of Defense Fellow. In that capacity, he served with Accenture Corporation, Northbrook, Ill., and was tasked to identify and harness best business practices for use within the department.
