Oktoberfest 2007 is wunderbar Published Oct. 9, 2007 By J.C. Corcoran 66th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- The 66th Services Squadron is once again pulling out all the stops for Oktoberfest 2007, taking place Oct. 12 from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Hanscom Tennis Bubble. The "Little German Band" will be on hand to add that special touch of authenticity with traditional German music, as attendees dine on the German food and beverages available for purchase. A variety of vendors will be on hand with everything from pretzels to bratwurst, and root beer floats to top it all off. "It's a festive atmosphere with good food, great entertainment and lots of fun for the whole family," said Paul Hartigan, Community Support Flight chief, 66th Services Squadron. According to Mr. Hartigan, the folks in Services, "have really gone all out to make this year's event the best ever." In addition to the German Band, the entertainment lineup includes "Donnie the DJ" and a special appearance by "Yo Yo People." This husband and wife duo bring back that popular toy from yesteryear with such favorite tricks as Walk the Dog and Rock the Baby, then add a modern twist with bizarre tricks, such as Boingy-Boingy and Iron Whip. Yo-yos attached to bouncy balls, yo-yos with 10-foot strings, and multiple yo-yos looping while hula hooping and unicycling are just some of their finely tuned feats. Consummate skill and deft timing to swingin' music coupled with high energy and sarcastic humor make the Yo-Yo People a favorite for every age. A number of kids activities are planned, including pumpkin decorating, face painting, sumo wrestling and a variety of amusements meant to make it an afternoon of fun for the whole family. So get the family together and join your neighbors and fellow workers at Oktoberfest 2007 today starting at 4 p.m. in the Tennis Bubble located behind the Fitness and Sports Center.
