The Hanscom Fire Department will promote safe fire practice with a series of events during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 7 through 13.

In accordance with this year's theme, 'Plan Your Escape,' the Hanscom Fire Department will host an open house at the Hanscom Fire Station Oct. 9 to Oct. 12, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., providing individuals with information on how to map out and practice fire escape routes and report emergencies, as well as how to prevent unintended fires and injuries, Fire Prevention Captain Dale Smith said.

The week's activities also include an educational Fun Walk Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. in Castle Park.

"There will be prizes, giveaways, demonstrations and a fire truck load of fun," Captain Smith said. "We would encourage every member of the Hanscom community to participate in any and all of our activities planned for this week."
