Hanscom pilots first Senior Leader Orientation Course Published Sept. 10, 2007 By 1st Lt. Lisa Spilinek 66 ABW Public Affairs HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host Hanscom's first Senior Leader Orientation Course for new-to-Hanscom leaders Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. The course is a new pilot program for the A&FRC that consolidates a dozen mandatory individual leadership consultations into a single morning session, saving new leaders valuable time during their first 60 days on assignment, said Dr. Sondra Albano, Hanscom's Airman and Family Readiness Flight chief. "Individually, these briefings can consume more than 12 hours on a new leader's schedule, she said. "Time is a precious resource. While individual follow-on consultations are always available, the initial requirement is now reduced to less than four hours." The target audience includes wing, vice wing, group and deputy group commanders, as well as squadron and section commanders, superintendents, chief master sergeants, first sergeants and civilian equivalents. The program includes required briefings on Family Care Plans, Tricare, Equal Employment Opportunity, legal and base contracting issues, Inspector General policies, sexual assault policy, Family Advocacy, Safety, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, and A&FRC support and assessment services.
