School physicals available at clinic Published July 13, 2007 By Capt. Travis Ingrodi 66th Medical Group Practice Manager HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- School physical appointments are available now through September at the Base Clinic. The 66th Medical Group has designated more than 75 appointments each week through Sept. 14 as "school physical" only slots. In addition, the 66 MDG will offer more than 300 school physical appointments from July 16 to July 27. Physicals are required in Massachusetts for initial enrollment in school, enrollment in most summer camps, and participation in sports programs, which are required every 13 months. The school physical appointment is scheduled with the patient's Primary Care Manager as the first choice. A patient whose schedule conflicts with the PCM's schedule may be seen by a different provider. The focus of school physical appointments is to complete the requirements for the physical. An additional appointment will be scheduled to more thoroughly address any issues that are identified during the initial appointment beyond the scope of the physical. School physicals will include a review of the patient's immunization record; patients will receive any required immunizations during the visit. It is imperative that patients arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time for the physical. Patients will meet with a nurse or medical technician to complete a medical history, vision screening, height, weight and blood pressure checks, and receive important age-specific information prior to the appointment. The paperwork, screenings and counseling must be completed in advance of seeing the provider at the scheduled appointment time. At the completion of the visit, patients will receive a copy of the 66 MDG Physical Form, which is valid for enrollment in school, sports programs, and summer camps in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. To make an appointment, call the 66 MDG appointment line at (888) 628-9633.
