Answers to base residents’ questions Published May 17, 2007 By Rhonda Siciliano 66th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Hanscom AFB -- Editor's Note: This is the final article in a three-part series of information and frequently asked questions to update the base community on Hanscom's housing privatization project. The consolidated list of FAQ's can be found on the American Eagle Communities Web site at www.americaneaglefamily housing.com/. Q: I understand the first advance notice I will receive relative to relocating, due to the construction phasing, is a questionnaire from the American Eagle Communities leasing staff. What do I do when I receive it? A: Upon receipt of the questionnaire, residents should complete it and send it back to AE in the prescribed time. The questionnaire provides information related to such things as Date of Rank, grade and number of dependents, which help the planning process. There will be a mini-town hall meeting held specifically for those residents in the next area affected by the construction phasing. The meeting will provide briefings from Joint Personal Property Shipping Office, the Hanscom Housing Office and American Eagle Communities. It is important to attend, since the forum is small and conducive to addressing issues one-on-one. The American Eagle Property Management Office will then work with each family, on a DoR basis, to provide offers for their next home and identify a specific timeframe for the move to occur. Q: Will I have to sign a new lease when I move into another unit? A: Yes, in order to reflect your new address. However, the original date of occupancy will remain the same as the current Tenant Lease date. Q: If I choose to waive down to a home of a lesser category or a home with fewer bedrooms than I am eligible for and into a new unit, may I immediately put my name on the wait list for a home in the correct category or number of bedrooms that I am eligible? A: If you choose to waive into a new home that does not match the category or the number of bedrooms for which you are eligible, then you will be required to wait one year before you may put your name on the wait list for the category or number of bedrooms you are eligible. Q: How long will I be allowed to take when moving between my current home and a new home? A: You will be permitted seven calendar days to make the transition from one home to another unless approved otherwise by American Eagle Communities. Q: Is Partial Dislocation Allowance authorized? A: No, a Partial Dislocation Allowance is not authorized in conjunction with moves in privatized housing because ownership of the homes has been conveyed to AEC and is no longer "provided by the United States," as required by Title 37, Section 407 of the United States Code. For more information, contact either AEC at 14 Adams Road or by calling (781) 861-5062 or the Hanscom Housing Office in building 1217 or by calling (781) 377-4590.
