HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Families living on base with children enrolled at Bedford High School have until Oct. 31 to complete and submit the 2023-2024 Federal Impact Aid Survey for federally connected students.

The Federal Impact Aid Program assists school districts that have many students enrolled from military installations or other federal properties.

“As we do each October, we are asking for parent, guardian cooperation in filling out a survey form to meet the requirements of Public Law 874,” wrote Cliff Chuang, superintendent for the Bedford Public Schools, in a weekly update to parents. “Please help us identify all federally connected students.”

According to Chuang, parents or guardians will receive a unique survey via email for each enrolled student via DocuSign. Officials say it is very important that all surveys are completed and electronically signed for each student.

Impact Aid replaces a portion of what Bedford, Massachusetts, citizens pay in property taxes to fund public education.

“Completing the Impact Aid Survey is essential to ensuring our schools continue to receive the necessary funding and resources to provide quality education to our military-connected students,” said Laurel Wironen, Hanscom’s school liaison officer. “Your participation directly supports our children’s success by acknowledging the crucial role Bedford Public Schools plays in their educational journey.”

Any information gathered via the survey is confidential and only available to school and federal officials.

For information about the survey, parents guardians may contact Kim Parmentier at 781-275-7508.
