HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, and the Youth Center’s Keystone Club will lead a community service project this month to spotlight it.

The Keystone Club, a youth leadership program affiliated with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, will seek to increase awareness, share positive messages, and collect care packages for those affected by homelessness.

“The goal is to engage teens in community service, to get them involved in something meaningful,” said Justin Oliver, Youth Center teen coordinator.

Organizers invite base personnel to write uplifting chalk messages on the sidewalk in front of the Youth Center.

“These chalk messages are intended to remind the community about the power of support and empathy,” Oliver said.

Participants are encouraged to photograph their chalk art and share it online with the hashtag #ycagainsthomelessness to amplify the message.

The campaign extends to providing tangible support through the collection of care packages.

“Donation boxes have been set up at the Youth Center to collect essential items for packages that will be delivered on Nov. 16,” said Oliver.

Requested items include hygiene products, winter accessories like gloves and hats, and small comfort items.

All donations should be submitted by Nov. 15 to ensure timely preparation and delivery.

“Each contribution, big or small, shows solidarity with young people facing homelessness and reminds us all of the importance of compassion and community,” said Oliver.

Individuals can learn more about the initiative by visiting the Youth Center or following updates on their social media.
