HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials finalized negotiations to update the collective bargaining agreement with the National Association of Government Employees, the installation’s largest labor union, during a signing ceremony here Jan. 30.
Col. Jorge Jimenez, 66th Air Base Group commander, signed the agreement alongside Thomas Siracusa, president of NAGE Local R1-08, and Melanie McGuire, 66th Force Support Squadron civilian personnel officer.
“This updated agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering a professional workplace that supports the mission and personnel of Hanscom Air Force Base,” said McGuire. “We value the partnership we have with NAGE and are proud of the collaborative effort that made this possible.”
The newly negotiated agreement updates the 2012 contract, establishing revised rights, responsibilities, and working conditions for bargaining unit employees, union representatives, and management.
Negotiations began in December 2023 and concluded Jan. 15, 2025.
The NAGE negotiation team was represented by Siracusa, Haywood Hunter, NAGE vice president, and Phillip Gindi, while the management negotiation team included McGuire, Thomas Fredericks, former 66 ABG deputy director, and Michael Snyder, former 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron director.
“Our negotiation team worked diligently to ensure this agreement addresses the evolving needs of our workforce while maintaining our high standards of mission readiness,” McGuire said.
The agreement has been submitted to the Department of Defense for final approval. Once approved, it will be distributed to all NAGE members and management at Hanscom AFB.
