HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron will discontinue its commuter shuttle service between the Concord Commuter Rail Station and Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., effective May 30.

Launched in May 2023, the weekday shuttle was developed to support the base’s commitment to providing additional transportation options for employees.

“The shuttle aimed to reduce single-occupancy vehicle travel and provide convenient access to the installation from the Concord train station,” said Anthony Cucchiara, 66 LRS Deployment and Distribution Flight acting chief. “However, after more than a year of operations and ongoing evaluation, ridership numbers have not met minimum thresholds to sustain the service.”

The shuttle operated during morning and afternoon peak commuting hours, providing four pickups from Concord Station each morning and three return trips in the afternoon.

Resources supporting the shuttle’s operation will now be reallocated to other mission-essential logistics support requirements across the installation.

“We’re continually assessing how to best use our resources to support the Team Hanscom community,” said Cucchiara. “Although the shuttle program is ending, there are still a number of robust transportation options available to assist commuters.”

Personnel commuting to Hanscom AFB are encouraged to explore alternative options including the Transportation Incentive Program, HanscomRIDES carpool matching, vanpool opportunities, and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory shuttle (space-available basis).
