HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials recently announced that a newly constructed Visitor Control Center here is now open.
The new facility, operated by 66th Security Forces Squadron, offers streamlined access and improved customer service for guests entering the installation.
“The Visitor Control Center represents a significant step forward in how we welcome and process our visitors,” said Capt. Timothy Tran, 66 SFS Operations officer. “With dedicated staff and a purpose-built space, we’re now able to deliver faster, more efficient service.”
The Visitor Control Center, or VCC, is located at the Sartain Gate complex off Old Bedford Road and officially opened May 27.
The facility is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will remain closed on weekends and federal holidays.
Construction on the center began in 2022 as part of a long-term initiative to bolster base security while improving the visitor experience.
The new VCC consolidates several security and vetting functions in one modern location. Personnel can now process visitor passes, verify credentials, and answer access-related inquiries on site, reducing congestion at base entry points.
“For years, we’ve looked for ways to better serve the thousands of people who access Hanscom Air Force Base each year -- whether they’re family members, contractors, or mission partners,” said Tran. “This new center allows us to do just that, while maintaining the high security standards the mission demands.”
Visitors can park in a larger parking lot, process their passes, and access the base in one coordinated process.
“Ultimately, this facility is about improving the experience of coming to Hanscom Air Force Base,” Tran said. “It’s part of a broader effort to modernize how we operate and ensure that everyone who needs access can do so smoothly and securely.”
Base officials encourage visitors to plan ahead by checking the 66 SFS official website or calling the VCC during operating hours for the latest access information.
