HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials will host a two-day Resilience Training Assistant Course Aug. 26 and 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons.
The course aims to equip participants with the skills to promote healthy behaviors and bolster resilience at both the unit and installation levels.
“Resilience is more than just bouncing back from challenges, it’s about building the skills and habits that allow Airmen, civilians, and their families to thrive,” said Kristin Wright, Integrated Prevention and Resilience program supervisor. “By training more RTAs, we’re empowering leaders at every level to strengthen their teams and foster a culture of connection.”
The RTA course is open to all members of the workforce with commander’s endorsement.
Resilience training assistants serve as force multipliers for the installation’s master resilience trainers, providing peer-to-peer instruction in evidence-based strategies designed to improve mental, emotional, and social well-being.
Once certified, RTAs can integrate resilience principles into unit activities, briefings, and daily interactions.
The training is part of a broader Air Force Materiel Command effort to embed proactive wellness and prevention practices into operations across the command. Officials say increasing the number of trained RTAs will help reinforce protective factors against stress, burnout, and suicide.
“Suicide prevention is a community responsibility,” Wright said. “When we give people the tools to build each other up, we create a stronger, safer, and more connected base.”
Organizers say the training directly supports the installation’s Community Action Plan and its Comprehensive Integrated Primary Prevention Plan, aligning with Line of Effort 1: Suicide Prevention.
Seats for the August class are limited. Those interested should coordinate with their leadership and contact Wright at kristin.wright.1@us.af.mil or at 781-225-4033 to secure a nomination.
