HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Security Forces Squadron will host National Night Out beside the Family Housing Office here Aug. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The annual event aims to strengthen relationships between 66 SFS, local police and the community, while fostering a sense of camaraderie across neighborhoods.

“National Night Out features a variety of activities designed to engage, educate and entertain attendees,” said Staff Sgt. Anthony Arroyo, a 66 SFS event co-organizer. “It provides the community an opportunity to meet and talk with local police officers in a relaxed, informal setting.”

The event is open to all with base access.

Although traditionally held the first Tuesday in August, Hanscom organizers scheduled this year’s event later in the month to enhance participation.

Private organizations, including the 66 SFS Defenders Council, will sell food and drinks during the event.

“National Night Out is a powerful initiative that strengthens bonds between communities and law enforcement,” Arroyo said. “By coming together for a night of celebration and interaction, residents and police build trust and collaboration, enhancing overall safety and unity.”

According to the National Night Out website, the annual campaign was established in August 1984 and has since grown into a nationwide celebration featuring block parties, parades, cookouts and other community events.
