HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- In the latest episode of Team Hanscom Today, Hanscom School Principal Erich Ledebuhr welcomed students and families back to the classroom while highlighting recent achievements across the installation.
Classes for the Lincoln Public School District begin Aug. 28 for grades pre-kindergarten through eighth, while Bedford Public Schools open Sept. 2.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for what promises to be an incredible year,” Ledebuhr said.
Hanscom schools will host two “Meet and Greet” events Aug. 27. Kindergarten families are invited from noon to 12:45 p.m., followed by grades first through eighth from 1 to 2 p.m.
The first day of school, Aug. 28, will include visits from Col. Jorge Jimenez, installation commander, the Fire Prevention Team, and Sparky the Fire Dog. Other events this fall include picture day Sept. 18 and the annual Back to School Night Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. in the primary school gym.
In this episode, Ledebuhr recognized recent Team Hanscom award winners. The Cyber and Networks Directorate received two Defense Acquisition Workforce Awards, with Lt. Col. Kristen Cepak honored for excellence in services acquisition and Cameron Scotia recognized for small business achievement.
Staff Sgt. Rose O’Houlahan received the 2025 Lance P. Sijan U.S. Air Force Leadership Award in the junior enlisted category at Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, while Capt. Triston Dillard earned the 2025 General Lew Allen Jr. Trophy.
“Your accomplishments reflect great credit upon you and your teams,” Ledebuhr said.
To close the episode and honor the upcoming Labor Day holiday, Ledebuhr expressed appreciation for the Hanscom AFB workforce.
“From our program managers to our fire department, to the staff at the Patriot Golf Course, and to the dedicated teachers, assistants, administrators, and cafeteria staff right here at Hanscom School – thank you,” he said. “We are grateful for the service you provide to our families, and for everything you do to keep Team Hanscom going strong every day.”
