HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Security Forces Squadron will host a first-of-its-kind Combat Fitness Challenge here Oct. 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at the base track.

The competition will pit 10 teams of four against one another in six high-intensity events designed to test physical strength, mental resilience and tactical skills under pressure.

“This challenge is all about teamwork and readiness,” said Tech. Sgt. Caleb Teats, 66 SFS Combat Arms Training and Maintenance trainer one of the event organizers. “Every station is meant to mirror situations personnel could face in real-world environments, where you don’t get second chances and you have to rely on your teammates.”

The event is open to all Hanscom AFB-connected military and civilian personnel, including Guard and Reserve members.

Participants, dressed in operational camouflage uniforms, helmets and vests, will rotate through stations featuring tactical communications, tactical combat casualty care, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear readiness, weapons disassembly and reload, and a 25-meter Humvee pull.

Each event is timed and point-based, with scores unknown to participants until the end of the competition.

“This isn’t about individual performance, it’s about how teams function under stress,” said 1st Lt. Allen Luna-Alcaraz, 66 SFS Logistics and Resource officer in charge and co-organizer for the event. “We designed the Combat Fitness Challenge to push participants beyond the gym and into scenarios that demand fast decisions, trust and resilience.”

Teams must register in advance through SignUpGenius. Slots are limited, and awards will be presented to the top finishers.

Fire teams can collect their gear from the Logistics Readiness Squadron prior to the event. A follow-up email with additional details will be provided to registered participants.
