HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The latest episode of Team Hanscom Today highlights safety recognition, a new senior leader, and one of the installation’s largest competitions.

Staff Sgt. Nathan King, from the Hanscom Safety Office, hosted the episode.

King opened the weekly program by recognizing Airmen for their commitment to workplace safety during the nationwide Safe & Sound Week campaign. Recipients included shop supervisors, unit training managers and section safety representatives from across the installation.

“Recognizing employees for their contributions reinforces the importance of maintaining a safe workplace for everyone,” King said.

The episode also featured a welcome to Brig. Gen. Joshua Williams, who recently assumed leadership of the Cyber and Networks Directorate during a Sept. 10 ceremony.

Williams will oversee a $21 billion portfolio of mission-critical programs that provide secure and reliable connectivity for more than 600,000 users worldwide. He most recently served at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and has more than 24 years of acquisition and leadership experience.

The show concluded with highlights from this year’s Commander’s Cup Challenge. More than 950 personnel registered for the weeklong event, which included a 300-meter swim relay, tug-of-war, dodgeball, an esports competition, and the Spartan DEKA Mile.

“This was one of the biggest years in the history of the Commander’s Cup,” King said. “Congratulations to all the participants and winners.”
