HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass.-- This week’s Team Hanscom Today episode highlighted military retiree support services, safety excellence, and welcomed two new teammates.

Kevin Keegan, director of the Retiree Activities Office, served as guest host and emphasized the importance of keeping the retiree community informed, connected, and supported.

“The Retiree Activities Office exists to serve those who continue to be part of Team Hanscom long after active service,” said Keegan. “Our volunteers work every day to help retirees navigate benefits, policy changes, and available resources.”

Located on the first floor of building 1305, the RAO offers program services for the military retiree community. The office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding federal holidays, and staff can be reached by phone, email or in person.

The 66th Air Base Group Safety Office, which recently received The Pentagon’s Safety and Occupational Health Management System Awards, was also featured in the episode. Peter Belk, acting Assistant Secretary of War for Readiness, visited the installation to present the award

“This recognition reflects years of hard work and commitment to protecting our workforce,” said Keegan. “Their efforts have led to record-low mishap rates across the installation.”

Keegan also welcomed Elliot DiTusa, Team Hanscom’s new Employee Assistance Program counselor and licensed mental health professional. Employees can access confidential support services 24 hours a day by phone, through on-base counseling or via referrals in local communities.

“Accessible mental health support is essential to the well-being of our workforce,” Keegan said. “We’re glad to welcome Elliot to the team.”

The program closed by Keegan welcoming Tracy Whittlesey, the new deputy portfolio acquisition executive for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management.

In the role, Whittlesey will help lead development of the Department of the Air Force Battle Network, connecting sensors, effectors and logistics systems to enable faster decision-making and increased operational advantage.
