HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Civilian Health Promotion Services officials are encouraging members of the civilian workforce to get moving this spring by participating in the ‘Every Step Counts’ challenge.
The initiative is a six-week activity designed to promote healthier habits through daily movement.
“The challenge invites participants of all fitness levels to reach a goal of 250,000 steps in six weeks, which averages about 6,250 steps per day,” said Ian Ganley, CHPS health promotion specialist.
Organizers say the program helps turn everyday movement, such as walking during lunch breaks or taking the stairs, into meaningful progress toward improved health and wellness.
Enrollment for the challenge is open March 2 through April 5 at USAF Wellness Portal.
Participants will log steps and complete a health risk assessment during the challenge period, which runs April 6 through May 17.
Individuals who register for the program will receive a free athletic shirt while supplies last. Participants who complete the full challenge and meet the step goal will earn a fitness shaker bottle.
Final check-out and completion award pick-up will take place May 26 through June 5.
