The Integrated Prevention and Resilience Office will host Peer Support Program training at the Education and Training Center April 13-15 for those interested in becoming unit volunteers.

The Peer Support Program equips military and civilian personnel with skills to facilitate early help-seeking behavior and awareness of base helping agencies.

“If approached by a peer, these embedded volunteers will be capable of delivering effective support and then connecting the individual with the correct resource, in a timely fashion,” said Dr. Ebon Alley, director of the Integrated Prevention and Resilience Office at Hanscom AFB. “This is a new and exciting opportunity to build upon existing skill sets for our personnel.”

Volunteers will be trained as resilience trainer assistants and learn about privacy and confidentiality, helping agencies and suicide prevention techniques.

Key goals of the program include building and sustaining an environment where all Airmen feel connected to the mission, fostering personal resilience and promoting a culture of mutual respect.

First sergeants, military and civilian supervisors, and family members over age 18 are eligible to attend.

Those interested in becoming peer support volunteers can contact the Integrated Prevention and Resilience Office at 781-225-1771.
