Stephen Falcone, Battle Management director of Engineering received the AFCEA Leadership Award. Kasie Gates, the deputy division chief for the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Integration Directorate received the AFCEA Meritorious Service Award. Falcone received the award in recognition of his work with the Reserve Officer Training Corps, Fellowship Awards programs and last year's New Horizons Symposium. "He spearheaded the chapter's New Horizons Symposium," said Mary Ann Carlson, AFCEA Lexington-Concord Chapter president. "In the true spirit of AFCEA, he shifted the paradigm from Air Force speakers to Armed Forces, successfully bringing in Army, Coast Guard, National Guard and GSA [General Services Administration] leaders, and orchestrating an agenda attracting nearly 500 industry and government attendees." The New Horizons Symposium is an annual event sponsored by the Lexington-Concord Chapter of AFCEA that provides an opportunity for Air Force Life Cycle Management Center program executive officers and program managers to exchange information with industry on current and emerging business opportunities. Gates was recognized for her role as chapter vice president of membership, where she arranged special mentorship events with military and government leaders to facilitate learning experiences for young professionals. "She has been a dynamic force for the chapter since joining more than six years ago," said Claire Goulet, vice president of the AFCEA Lexington-Concord Chapter. "She's a real-life AFCEA guru whose recruitment events have resulted in a steady flow of new members over the past several years."
