The next Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Focus Week will take place here and via distance learning April 25 to 29.

As with previous focus weeks, offerings include a wide range of topics covering general to technical subjects. Some courses to be presented this session are "Acquisition Strategy Development," "Risk and Issue Management," "Should Cost," and "Acquisition Document Development and Management." A cyber technology topic of "Incident Response and Reporting" round table discussion will also be presented locally here at Hanscom.

In addition, as part of this Focus Week, Hanscom's Engineering and Technical Management Directorate, in conjunction with The MITRE Corp., will host an "Innovation Exchange" on April 26. The Exchange provides an opportunity for program office personnel to see the independent research and development work that is ongoing at MITRE and being drawn from the broader innovation community in the areas of cybersecurity, communications and networking, and the future of command and control. As part of this event, a demonstration and poster session will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there will also be three focus week courses.

At 10 a.m. there will be a Cyber Threats Learning Class; at 11:30 a.m. there will be an Innovation Talk during which Dennis Miller, Engineering and Technical Management director, will provide a kickoff, while Dr. Mark Maybury, MITRE vice president, chief security officer and director of the NIST National Cybersecurity FFRDC, will speak on cybersecurity challenges; and at 1 p.m. there will be a Cyber Risk Assessment Tool Demo Learning Class. For more information about the Exchange, see related article here.

Focus Week organizers say they try to offer a variety of courses that meet the needs of the workforce. When a base is hosting an onsite course, they ask that personnel attend in person.

Registration for Focus Week is through the Acquisition Now (AcqNow) Continuous Learning website. Search for courses at http://www.atrrs.army.mil/channels/acqnowcl/ by looking under "CL Events" for AFLCMC Focus Week.

"LCMC Focus Weeks provide a great opportunity for our workforce to expand their knowledge," said Angela Benito of the Workforce Development Team, who organizes the events. "We recommend registering early so you don't miss out on something you want."

She added that for the majority of the courses, personnel can earn continuous learning points.
