Fraud-related training offered April 5-6 Published March 23, 2016 By 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The next Boston Area Fraud Working Group will take place April 5 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Hanscom Conference Center. The training will feature presentations on the following topics: "Corruption in Contracting," presented by FBI Special Agent Jared Hewitt; "National Intellectual Property Rights Coordinator Center, Operation Chain Reaction," presented by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent Paul Burk; and "Investigating and Prosecuting Trafficking in Counterfeit Microelectronics," presented by Brian Resler, Department of Justice senior trial attorney. "Each of these offerings will provide Hanscom acquisition professionals an opportunity to gain insight on fraud-related topics, as well as participate in a question and answer period following each presentation," said Jenny Carrion, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate acquisition fraud and program counsel. "In addition to the sessions offered April 5 as part of the Boston Area Fraud Working Group, additional fraud-related training is available April 6 at the conference center for specific career fields." Contracting personnel are invited to attend "National Intellectual Property Rights Coordinator Center, Operation Chain Reaction," training April 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The same topic will be discussed again from 1 to 3 p.m. for government engineers, program managers and financial managers. The latter session will also include Government Purchase Card Fraud training. The BAFWG meets biannually to train the acquisition community on fraud recognition, reporting, hot topics and case studies. The BAFWG also provides a forum for acquisition and law enforcement professionals to discuss trends in procurement fraud. All government employee professionals who are involved in the acquisition process, regardless of position or experience level, can attend the upcoming BAFWG.
