Hanscom CGO captures AFCEA award Published Feb. 24, 2016 HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- First Lt. Adam Kelly was recognized earlier this month at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International Conference held in San Diego, California. Kelly, Tactical Automated Security Systems program manager for Battle Management, received the Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award for his contributions to the Lexington-Concord Chapter of AFCEA. "First Lieutenant Kelly is an indispensable member of the Chapter's Annual Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship Committee," said Chapter President Mary Ann Carlson. "He orchestrated award venues, organized nomination packages, set up review timetables, prepared event program and cadet certificates, registered participants and personally shepherded 21 cadets through the awards presentation process." Additionally, Kelly was recognized by chapter leadership for his mentorship contributions, personally briefing and mentoring cadets about career opportunities and service commitment during ROTC Career Days. "He is an avid counselor and committed mentor of local youth groups on leadership, good citizenship and STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math] education events," Carlson added. The chapter president also highlighted Kelly's efforts as a volunteer firefighter and as an advisor in the Fire Explorer Program. According to their website, AFCEA is a non-profit association serving the military, government, industry and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, information technology, intelligence and global security.
