Since being established in 1993, November has been the Month of the Military Family across the Department of Defense as a way to thank military families who have supported the careers of Airmen and other service members.

Throughout the past month, the 66th Force Support Squadron has honored military families with a variety of activities such as a craft workshop, fun run, movie night and more.

"The month of the military family is a recognition month in November across all DoD services," said Sherita Baker, 66 FSS marketing and sponsorship supervisor. "We recognize the sacrifices and the contributions that military families play in fulfilling our mission within the DoD."

Many of the 66 FSS facilities offered discounted programs in an effort to provide more family time throughout the month-long event.

Among the featured events held this month was an annual Family Holiday Craft Workshop hosted by the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

"The Family Holiday Craft Workshop started 15 years ago," said Dawn Andreucci, AFRC community readiness consultant team leader. "It ties into the Month of the Military Family because it is so family oriented."

In a Military Family Month proclamation, the Commander in Chief President Barack Obama wrote that, "The United States is stronger and safer thanks to the millions of military family members who, in sacrificing cherished moments with their loved ones, selflessly afford us precious time with ours."
