Bedford to host annual founding celebration Published Sept. 2, 2015 By Jessica Casserly 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom community is invited to join the town of Bedford Sept. 19 to celebrate the 286th anniversary of the town's establishment. The celebration will begin with the annual Bedford Day Fair, which is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Town Hall complex on Mudge Way. The fair will feature activities, food and entertainment. The festivities also include a parade at 10:30 a.m. The parade route will proceed north on Great Road from Loomis Street toward the Town Hall complex on Mudge Way. Parade participants will include the Bedford High School marching band, Bedford town officials and local organizations. "Bedford Day is a special day for the town, because it is a time to gather and reconnect," said Amy Hamilton, Town of Bedford Recreation director. "It is about the community, of which Hanscom is an integral part. We hope that Hanscom residents will help celebrate that day at the parade and fair." The Bedford Day celebration will also feature a 5K race, an art exhibit in the Town Center and a dedication ceremony for the Bedford High School soccer field. In the event of severe weather, the parade and fair will be rescheduled for Sept. 26.
