Hanscom to host ball to celebrate AF birthday Published Aug. 19, 2015 By Mark Wyatt 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom community is invited to attend the 68th United States Air Force Birthday Ball Sept. 18 at the Aero Club Hangar. The theme for this year's event is: "We are all Airmen." This year's event will begin with cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Music and dancing will follow dinner. "Military balls are an opportunity to enhance esprit de corps and camaraderie among the armed forces and let us connect today's service member with our long military history and traditions," said Col. Michael A. Vogel, 66th Air Base Group commander. "Yesterday's Airmen set high standards for today's generation of Airmen through dedication to duty and innovation to succeed and on September 18 we pause to remember our past and celebrate our future." All branches of the armed forces, as well as Defense Department civilians and contractors, are welcome to attend the birthday ball that celebrates the Air Force becoming its own separate branch of service Sept. 18, 1947. Military attendees must wear mess dress or the semi-formal uniform. Civilian guests may wear black tie or business- suit attire. A photo booth will be available for attendees to purchase portraits. The cost for the event is: $25 for E-1 to E4, GS-1 to GS-4 and NAF1 to NAF2; $35 for E-5 and GS-5 to GS-7; $45 for E-6 to E-7, GS-8 to GS-9 and NAF3; $50 for E-8 to E-9, Company Grade Officers and GS-10 to GS-12; $55 for Field Grade Officers and GS-13 to GS-14; and $60 for 0-6 and above,GS-15 and industry contractors.
