'Alert!' mass notification system replaces AtHoc

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. --  A new mass notification system will now be used by base officials to notify employees of urgent weather-related information, base closures or delayed openings via phone call, text message or email.

The new Air Force Materiel Command-mandated system called "Alert!" replaces AtHoc as the primary means of notifying base personnel on and off base.

"It's important that assigned personnel with Common Access Cards sign up for these notifications so the Command Post can rapidly disseminate critical information to the entire workforce," said Master Sgt. Peter Gorman, Command Post superintendent.

Personnel interested in utilizing the notification capabilities should update their information at the website at https://alert.sd.spawar.navy.mil/selfservice by providing home, cell and emergency contact numbers and email addresses, according to their communication preferences.

Information for individual users already using AtHoc was transferred to Alert!. However, there may be instances where individual information may not have transferred, so Command Post officials suggest everyone visit the website.

Self-registration or updating contact information can be done at the site. For personnel already in the system, their information will auto populate.

For updating contact information in the Alert! system:

- Enter your CAC password.
- The warning screen will appear.  Select, "I Agree."
- The registration screen will appear. 
- Edit your information and select save.

Everything can be edited with the exception of the "Windows Username" and the "CAC EDIPI." 

Each field in which data is provided can be used for notifications, per the commander's discretion. Participants requesting text message alerts will not be reimbursed for any text messaging charges incurred.

In addition to the Alert! system, emergencies, inclement weather delays or closures are reported via: Giant Voice, the pyramid alert system, or in cases where base operational status may be affected, the COLD line and the Hanscom public website at www.Hanscom.af.mil.
