Ten Airmen and two members of the U.S. Coast Guard completed Airman Leadership School during a graduation ceremony at the Minuteman Commons Feb. 13.

ALS, the first step in professional military education for enlisted members, is a five week-long Air Force PME class designed to develop junior enlisted members into effective front-line supervisors. The curriculum focuses on developing leadership abilities as well as effective communication. Much of the instruction focuses around various Air Force rules and regulations.

During the ceremony, Chief Master Sgt. Gerald Nunes, 66th Security Forces Squadron manager, spoke to the 12 graduates on leadership.

"To become a chief is more about who you are than it is about what you do," said Nunes. "To make the top enlisted ranks, I believe you have to be a leader, and leadership is something that comes from within."
