Class dates for a leadership symposium that began at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and is now offered at Hanscom Air Force Base, have been scheduled for calendar year 2015, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Contracting officials announced.

The first 2015 Hanscom Leadership Symposium is scheduled to be held at the Hanscom Conference Center Jan. 6-9.

The four-day symposium is expected to feature an introduction from Lt. Gen. John Thompson, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center commander, by video teleconference, as well as presentations from Hanscom senior leaders.

"Kevin Stamey, a former Engineering and Technical Management associate director, brought the leadership symposium to Hanscom in 2013-14 and we're excited to take the baton and carry it forward for 2015," said Scott Kiser, director of Contracting for Hanscom.

The symposium is structured around the book, 'The Leadership Challenge,' by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. A copy of the book will be given to each attendee.

"Mr. Stamey had previously stated this was one of the best leadership courses he had ever participated in," said Kiser. "We wanted to continue this outstanding course as an opportunity for the Hanscom community."

Five principles from 'The Leadership Challenge' will be explored: Model the Way, Encourage the Heart, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act and Inspire a Shared Vision. A sixth principle, Have Fun, was added by Wright-Patterson leadership.

"The Leadership Symposium has quickly become one of the most popular courses here at Hanscom, just as it has traditionally been at Wright-Patterson," said Kiser. "The Hanscom workforce is obviously excited to hear from our senior leadership...and senior leaders are also genuinely excited to be a part of the symposium."

Senior leaders from Hanscom will team up to deliver the principles of the Leadership Challenge and Have Fun.

Sessions are open to all Hanscom general service civilians and military members.

Other opportunities to attend this year include: May 12- 5 and Dec. 1-4, 2015 on a first come, first serve basis.  Registration will be through ACQ NOW for Continuous Learning Events Website. As dates approach additional information will be released.
