The first phase of the 66th Medical Squadron modernization project is nearing completion, officials announced Oct. 20.

This initial phase includes renovations that improved patient flow and the overall environment in Pediatrics, and patient flow and added privacy in Medical Management.

Additional phases of the project are ongoing.

"The clinic renovation, which began in February 2014, is focused on improving the overall patient experience," said Lt. Col. Therese A. Bohusch, 66 MDS commander. "In addition to a modern and inviting atmosphere, the project will better consolidate clinical areas for easier patient access and address energy efficiency measures aimed to save critical resources."

The project will continue to follow a phased approach in order to minimize impacts to services.

The next few areas to be completed include the Family Health Clinic, Laboratory, Radiology and Education and Training Center. The Optometry and Flight Medicine Clinic, Public Health, Pharmacy, Lobby and remaining administrative sections will follow.

While signage is posted throughout the clinic regarding temporary and permanent moves, visitors should ask clinic personnel if further assistance is needed.

"Patient care remains our mission. This modernization project will further improve our clinical offerings and ability to provide superior healthcare," said Bohusch. "We appreciate the understanding of our patients during this transition and look forward to unveiling the finished product next year."

The clinic telephone number will remain 781-225-6789.
