Day for Kids scheduled Sept. 17 Published Sept. 9, 2014 By Mark Wyatt 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Hanscom Youth Programs will celebrate children during the Boys and Girls Club of America Day for Kids from Sept. 17 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Castle Park for all families on base. According to the Boys and Girls Club website, www.dayforkids.org, recognized nationally Sept. 20, Day for Kids is a national initiative that invites members of the community to join the BGC in making a difference for kids. "The Youth Centers offers children a safe environment with resources and support to help Hanscom youth create great futures," said Ann-Marie Ely, Youth Center assistant director. "We believe that the day a child enters our doors can change their life." Hanscom's event includes Hamburgers, cookie decorating, face painting, castle bounce house and a dunk tank. The BGCA challenges each parent to make a commitment to connect with the young person in their life and spend meaningful time together engaging in active play. It also mentions that when families have fun playing together, memories will be created that will last a lifetime. The event is free.
