Airman 1st Class Ray A. Rediger, 66th Force Support Squadron, pled guilty to one charge of wrongful appropriation, one charge and seven specifications of false official statements, and one charge of failure to go during a special court-martial here Aug. 19.

After being elected as treasurer of the Air Force Sergeant's Association Chapter 161 in February 2014, Airman Rediger began misappropriating funds from the AFSA checking account for his own personal use. Over a four month period, he wrongfully took more than $1,800 from the AFSA checking account, depositing only $920 in total.

During this time, he also made numerous false official statements to supervisors. In March 2014, the Airman lied to his supervisors when he told them that his father, stepmother and unborn child died in a car accident.

Rediger lied to his supervisors again in June 2014 when he told them his mother was in a car accident and as a result was in very bad condition in the hospital. His family members were not in any motor vehicles accidents in 2014.

In May 2014, Airman Rediger made a request to his supervisor to attend the Holocaust Memorial 5k run that was scheduled during the duty day. His supervisor appointed the 5k run as his place of duty for the remainder of the duty day. He never went to the 5k run but went home instead.

For committing these offenses, Rediger was reprimanded, reduced to airman basic, sentenced to one month confinement, fined $1,800 and if the fine is not paid, then sentenced to two additional months of confinement. He was also discharged with a bad conduct discharge.
