Parade, heroes homecoming set for July 23 Published June 24, 2014 By Jennifer Green-Lanchoney 66th Air Force Base Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- More than 70 Airmen who have returned home from deployment in the past year, along with their family members, will be honored during this summer's Heroes Homecoming here July 23. "It is important that we recognize the people who do so much for this country," said Bobby Jacques, Hanscom Executive Services director and event organizer. "No matter where you went, you weren't home at night and that is a sacrifice for you and your family." The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with free hot dogs and hamburgers, a disc jockey, a children's fun zone and more at the Hanscom outdoor track. There will also be a parade at 1 p.m., beginning at the Hanscom Conference Center and ending at the outdoor track. The parade will include the honorees, their families and others riding in vehicles. Hanscom personnel are invited to line the parade route and honor these heroes by waving American flags, cheering them on as it proceeds to the track. Jonathan Elias, WBZ-TV anchor and former 66th Air Base Group honorary commander, will serve as the master of ceremonies. Anyone who has returned home from deployment since January and would like to participate in Heroes Homecoming should contact Jacques at 781-225-1333.
