The Air Force Association's 2014 Mike and Gail Donley Spouse Scholarship is now available through the Hanscom Information Learning Center.

This scholarship is available to military spouses and spouses of Department of the Air Force civilian employees who are pursuing their associate, bachelor or graduate/postgraduate degrees.

Applicants who have no prior college or university course work must have proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university. Applicants who are currently enrolled must provide an official transcript; there is also a minimum 3.5 GPA requirement.

The application must include a two-page double-spaced essay, describing academic and career goals, as well as, the motivation behind those educational pursuits. Along with transcripts applicants must submit two letters of recommendation.

"Scholarships like the Mike and Gail Donley Spouse Scholarship reward spouses who have gone above and beyond," said Natalie Hernandez, Information Learning Center lead technician. "It is a huge accomplishment for those spouses who continue their education while maintaining a household."

Often, it can be difficult achieving educational goals as a military spouse. Not only can scholarships help with the cost of receiving an education, but can also help with the additional costs accumulated.

"I am a graduate student at Boston University and part of my degree includes a 150-hour internship," said Andrea Bublitz, spouse of 1st Lt. Matthew Bublitz. "Receiving a spouse scholarship would help pay for the cost of child care when I have to complete the internship, and that would be a huge help to our family."

Application packages must be submitted by April 30, 2014. Packets can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Hanscom Information Learning Center, which is located at 1548 Marrett St.
