Leadership symposium scheduled Published Nov. 8, 2013 By Sherry Odett Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Manpower and Personnel HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- A symposium previously limited to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will soon offer four meetings here, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Manpower and Personnel officials announced. Kevin Stamey, Engineering and Technical Management associate director, took the initiative to bring the leadership symposium to Hanscom. "It was one of the best leadership courses I have ever had," said Stamey. "I wanted to make this outstanding course available to the Hanscom workforce." The symposium, scheduled for Dec. 10 - 13, will feature an introduction from Patsy Reeves, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center executive director, as well as presentations from Hanscom senior leaders. "I knew it would be a popular course like it is at Wright-Patt but I'm amazed by the response to the initial offering at Hanscom." said Stamey "The workforce is obviously excited to hear from our senior leadership." The symposium is structured around the book, "The Leadership Challenge," by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. Five principles from their book will be explored: Model the Way, Encourage the Heart, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act and Inspire a Shared Vision. A sixth principle, Have Fun, was added by Wright-Patterson AFB leadership. Senior leaders from Hanscom will team up to deliver the principles of the Leadership Challenge and Have Fun. A copy of "The Leadership Challenge" book will be provided to each attendee. Sessions are limited to GS-12s and captains and above. Other opportunities to attend include Apr. 22 - 25, 2014; July 21 - 25, 2014; Nov. 17 - 21, 2014. Registration will be through ACQ NOW for Continuous Learning Events Website.
