Pre-furlough schedules restored Published Aug. 14, 2013 HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Senior leaders at Hanscom have announced that, in concert with the Defense Department's reduction in furlough days from 11 to six, restoration of Friday service will begin next week. Furlough information has been sent out to base personnel regarding the reduction of furlough days to six. Hanscom customer service operations will revert to pre-furlough service schedules effective the week of Aug. 19. Specifically, Friday, Aug. 23, will be the first Friday when all base services will be available on the normal, pre-furlough schedules. There has been no change regarding controls on premium pay, overtime or compensatory time. In general, premium pay is not authorized unless it is part of an employee's normal pay, such as an employee who regularly earns a night differential. Therefore, most employees will continue to work not more than 32 hours per week during furlough or 40 hours per week after furlough requirements are met. Base officials have lifted the temporary suspension of the compressed work schedule for those employees who have completed the required six days (48 hour) of furlough. For these employees, work schedules can be changed back to the compressed work schedule effective the pay period beginning Aug. 25. Individuals on flexible work schedules may again accumulate up to 24 credit hours, with supervisory approval, after furlough requirements are met and as approved by their supervisor. The Hanscom Commissary will resume its normal operations the week of Aug. 18 through 23.
