A member of the 66th Security Forces Squadron here recently learned he is one of five Airmen selected by the Air Force Association of Massachusetts as the commonwealth’s “Top 5 Massachusetts Airmen.”

Tech. Sgt. Harvey Holloway, NCO in charge of training for 66 SFS, will receive his award along with the others during a ceremony Oct. 22 at the U.S.S. Constitution Museum in Charlestown, Mass.

“All five Airmen were selected for their mission contributions and job performance,” said Joseph P. Bisognano, Mass. AFA president. “Sergeant Holloway’s nomination illustrates the profound impact he makes as training manager in a squadron that has won ‘Best in Air Force’ in consecutive years.”

Highlighted throughout his nomination was his effort to train military and civilian personnel on base to survive an active shooter situation.

“His efforts to train Air Force and National Guard employees instilled survival skills and a warrior ethos for all those involved,” said Maj. Joseph A. Bincarousky, 66 SFS commander. “In addition, he provided critical active shooter training for the Hanscom Federal Credit Union that resulted in more than 70 civilian employees gaining important life savings skills.”

Holloway also collaborated with local law enforcement agencies to provide SFS Airmen field sobriety and Special Weapons and Tactics training.

According to the nomination, he also reduced the Combat Arms workload by earning a chief range officer certificate that enabled him to instruct weapons training for SFS personnel.

In addition, Holloway is an active member of Hanscom’s Special Reaction Team and is a squadron representative for the Air Force Sergeant Association.

“As a member of the special reaction team, he is part of a specialized trained team that responds to high-risk situations on base when needed,” said Capt. Christopher McNamee, SRT’s officer in charge. “Sergeant Holloway’s commitment to the security of Hanscom is evident by his peers selecting him as a team lead.”

In May 2016, Holloway also earned a criminal justice degree from the Community College of the Air Force.

At last year’s inaugural “Top 5 Massachusetts Airmen” event, Hanscom members Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Barden and Master Sgt. Kevin Walker were recognized.
