HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Airman and Family Readiness Center here will host a job fair Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons.

The event is open to any job seeker with base access, including active duty service members, Reserve, Air National Guard, Department of Defense civilian employees, retired military from all services and their family members.

"The benefits of a job fair are easier access to employment and networking opportunities for people transitioning from the military, as well as providing opportunities for family members seeking employment," said Dan Mazzuca, Transition Assistance Program manager. "At last year’s event, one out of two attendees received an interview and/or employment offer.”

This year employers will have rooms available for on-the-spot interviews. Mazzuca encourages those seeking employment to bring copies of their resume and dress for success.

Mazzuca also highlighted that employers often look to veterans because of their unique skills.

"Employers repeatedly tell me that they seek veterans due to their skills in leadership, teamwork and ability to perform under pressure," he said. "With more than 30 employers scheduled to attend, this job fair should provide something for all those seeking employment."

For those trying to make the most of the job fair, Mazzuca said the A&FRC will offer two workshops to help individuals prepare.

"How to Work a Job Fair" is scheduled Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and "Mock Interviews" will be offered Oct. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Each offering will be held in Building 1240, the Community Support Center.
