Learning about other cultures

HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- Mohammad Yaqub, 850th Electronic Systems Group, (third from left) shares information about Middle Eastern cultures during the Airman and Family Readiness Center-sponsored Culture Clash class Dec. 11. In addition to learning facts about Middle Eastern cultures, class attendees, some of whom will deploy soon, ate a Middle Eastern-style meal and were provided with country-specific handbooks and booklets with tips on interacting with people from different countries. Class facilitator 2nd Lt. Felisa Dyrud, 66th Mission Support Squadron, wore a hijab to the class to give class attendees a feel for the type of garb that is worn in some Middle Eastern countries. The lieutenant lived in Afghanistan for nine months before entering the Air Force. (U.S. Air Force photo by Linda LaBonte Britt)
