In-Place Patient Decontamination Unit
HANSCOM AFB, Mass – Personnel from the 66th Medical Group’s newly functional In-Place Patient Decontamination Unit practice decontamination procedures April 4 during a training session here. In the event of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive (CBRNE) weapons attack, the 20-person team is required to setup their TVI water heater, a tent and a hazardous material containment bladder to respond to affected personnel. The team decontaminates patients prior to bringing them into the medical facility in order to prevent contamination of health care providers or the medical treatment facility.
