Greening commutes

HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- Holly Seiferth, 850th Electronic Systems Group contractor, peruses the Commuter Awareness Day tabled manned by Elliot Schmidt, outreach coordinator for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's MASSRIDES office, and Linda Arpino, 66th Mission Support Group Environmental office, in the Base Exchange complex Sept. 10. Hanscom employees interested in public transportation or carpooling have several programs available. The Ride Matching program, which is run by the Environmental office, pairs employees with similar work schedules to facilitate carpooling. Vanpools are also available for larger commuter groups. Additionally, employees using public transportation may qualify for the Transportation Incentive Program -- a Department of Defense program that provides financial incentives to employees to encourage commuting by mass transportation.
