WESTFORD, Mass. - Dr. Michael MacDonald, MIT Lincoln Lab Transmitter Unit engineer, shows Gen. William L. Shelton, Air Force Space Command commander, and Lt. Gen. Ellen M. Pawlikowski, Space and Missile Systems Center commander, physical characteristics of W-Band Waveguide Feb. 11. A significant upgrade to the Haystack Ultra-wideband Satellite Imaging Radar, or HUSIR, system was recently completed that adds W-band capabilities to the existing X-band capabilities, allowing for enhanced identification of objects in space.
