Obtaining medical care when winter weather hits

In the event of inclement winter weather, 66th Medical Squadron officials ask those with appointments to call the Hanscom Weather Information System Hotline at 781-225-COLD (2653) prior to departing for a medical appointment.

If the base has a delayed opening, the clinic will follow the same delayed opening procedures; any scheduled appointments during this delay will be automatically canceled. If the base is closed, the clinic will also be closed and appointments will be automatically canceled.

Patients should call the base clinic call center at 781-225-6789 to reschedule an appointment once the clinic opens.

If emergency care is required, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for treatment. Prior authorization is not required for emergency care.

If the clinic is closed and a dependent or retiree requires non-emergent care that cannot wait until the clinic reopens, they may go to a network Urgent Care Center without prior approval or contact the Nurse Advice Line (NAL) by calling 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273).

If the clinic is closed and an active duty member requires non-emergent care that cannot wait until the clinic reopens, contact the NAL by calling 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273). NAL personnel will provide instructions or authorize use of an Urgent Care Center if medically necessary.
