HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – More than 45 employers will be available for prospective employees during the Airman and Family Readiness Center job fair Nov. 2 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons here.

The annual event, hosted by the A&FRC’s Transition Assistance Program, is open to anyone with base access, including soon-to-be or recently separated and retired service members and their families.

“The job fair is wider in scope than just transitioning members of the armed forces,” said Dan Mazzuca, Hanscom’s Transition Assistance Program manager. “If you have access to the installation, we welcome you to stop by and meet with the broad number of employers attending this year’s event.”

The job fair is free and no registration is required.

“Employers recognize that veterans bring a wealth of intangibles to the workforce, specifically leadership qualities, teamwork and their unique ability to perform under pressure,” said Mazzuca.

According to event organizers, every employer attending this year will have job openings. However, Mazzuca recommends personnel come prepared.

“Attendees are encouraged to bring updated copies of their resume and be prepared with an elevator speech about their experience,” he said. “I would also encourage anyone attending to dress as though it’s an actual job interview, because employers will have rooms available for on-the-spot interviews.”

For those trying to make the most of the job fair, Mazzuca said the A&FRC is offering two workshops to help individuals prepare.

"How to Work a Job Fair" is scheduled Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a "Private Sector Resume Writing" workshop will be offered Oct. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. Each course will be in the Community Support Center, Building 1240.

A “Federal Resume Writing and USA Jobs” workshop is scheduled Oct. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for those seeking federal service.

All workshops require preregistration.

To register for one of the workshops, or for further information, including a full list of employers attending the job fair, contact the A&FRC at 781-225-2765 or email Mazzuca at daniel.mazzuca@us.af.mil.
