HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – In this Straight Talk, I will answer a question submitted by a member of Team Hanscom regarding the Hansconian, Hanscom’s weekly newspaper.
Q Why doesn’t the Hansconian publish base movie listings and trips and tours?
A Thank you for your question asking about the Hansconian publishing weekly movie listings and trips and tours run through the 66th Force Support Squadron.
GateHouse Media New England, an off-base commercial publisher, publishes the Hansconian each Wednesday. The Hansconian, as well as the Hanscom AFB public website, are the primary means of communicating with internal and external audiences about Hanscom Air Force Base and the Air Force.
Following the tremendous growth of digital media in recent years, GateHouse Media, like so many other newspaper publishers, reduced the Hansconian’s pages substantially.
The 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs Office strives to maximize the limited space available each week in the Hansconian by utilizing the Hanscom public website, as well as other publically available sites such as those offered by the Base Exchange and 66th Force Support Squadron.
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service website includes hours of operations for all Hanscom-based AAFES facilities, including the base theater. Members of the community can find the most up-to-date movie listings and show times at http://www.aafes.com/exchange-stores/Movie-Guide/showtimes-Hanscom-AFB.htm.
Additionally, the 66th Force Support Squadron website lists all of its activities, including trips and tours run through the Tickets and Tours facility in Building 1530.
From the Hanscom AFB public website, www.hanscom.af.mil, you can navigate to any of these other sites and check our Key Phone Number listing, to contact any organization on base directly.
Thank you for the question. If you have a question and are not sure where to find the answer, I encourage you to contact the Straight Talk line at 781-225-1380 or by email at Hanscom.straightalk@us.af.mil.
