HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom community now has an additional dining option available following the opening of a restaurant Jan. 25 in the former Resiliency Center Snack Bar beside the bowling center here.

Pizza Mia offers lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7p.m. in Building 1531.

"The restaurant is located in the center of Hanscom Air Force Base," said James Kiteley, AAFES operations assistant. "Much of the base population is located within walking distance to this facility, which will allow customers to not lose parking spots where they work."

However, officials said delivery is also an option.

"In addition to offering dining-in options, we offer free delivery anywhere on base with a $10 minimum order," said Paul Caetano, Pizza Mia owner, who operates another Pizza Mia in Billerica.

An additional dining option is something officials from AAFES and the 66th Force Support Squadron were eager to provide to members of the base community.

“The 66th Force Support Squadron is partnering with Pizza Mia for larger events at the Tavern, such as for Football Frenzy on Feb. 4,” said William Charlton, 66 FSS operations officer.

An official grand opening Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. is open to all on base.

The new AAFES concessionaire joins Dunkin Donuts, Subway, Froots and Lester’s Roadside Barbecue located at the Hanscom Main Exchange food court.

The Commissary also provides hot food options, including a deli and sushi bar, Tuesday through Friday for those eligible.

In addition to AAFES dining options, the Tavern is open Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons. While no food is available to purchase, FSS officials say food delivery is an option for customers.
