HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Air Force Continuous Process Improvement program here offers several opportunities for employees to become familiarized and trained in its methods, with CPI Awareness, Practical Problem Solving and Green Belt Academics currently being offered.
CPI practitioners employ common business tools to uncover and reduce waste, cut costs, streamline processes, improve customer service and help to facilitate workplace efficiency across the base.
For those who are unfamiliar with the basic CPI philosophy, a one-hour CPI Awareness training is available on request, according to Sam Doucette, 66th Air Base Group CPI program manager and Hanscom’s only certified CPI Black Belt.
Hanscom also offers training in the Practical Problem Solving Model, formerly known as the 8-Step Problem Solving Model. This eight-hour class, which focuses on the basics of PPSM, is also offered upon request.
The most in-demand class is CPI Green Belt Academics, the first required step toward achieving CPI Green Belt certification, Doucette said. Now aligned with Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Focus Week, Green Belt training is being held January 22-25, April 23-26 and July 23-26. Visit the AF CPI SharePoint site to register for one of the upcoming four-day sessions. Future classes will be scheduled at least on a quarterly basis.
